‘Church-land, land belonging to a church’. This was the land attached to the old parish kirk of Methil.
OS Pathf. shows Kirkland as a riverside area on the north side of Methil, and Kirkland Dam, but OS 6 inch (1856) shows Kirkland as a settlement at NO364006, as well as Kirkland Farm at NO369000.
Kirklin Work shown on Ainslie/Fife (1775) is an industrial works which later became a foundry (now disused).
