‘Mound, hill, knowe’. See KDT Introduction for the transference of lands of Tough from KGH to AAX in 1649–50. The name survives on the OS Pathf. only in the place-name Tough Row (NT254944), which is called Collier Row on OS 6 inch (1856) and 1 inch (1899). On OS Explorer (2001) even this name has gone, while not a single street-name in Kirkcaldy commemorates Tough in any form: a remarkable disappearing act over the last century of this long-established and once important name.

Easter Tough, later called Chapel Farm (see under Chapel KDT above), was long linked with the lands of Bogie KDT; Wester Tough KDT, AAX, KGH is now called Chapel Home Farm (NT247944). See Chapel KDT for more details.
