Sc craig + Sc side

‘Land beside a crag, rock, or rocky hill-face’. The craig in question is the steep, rocky escarpment called on OS Pathf. Balgreggie Craigs. Ainslie/Fife (1775) is the most modern map to show the settlement, and this gives the above NGR. SGF (1828) does not show the farm, and OS 6 inch 1st edn. (1856) shows only Craigside Plantation.

Blaeu (Gordon) Fife shows Craigsyd a considerable distance to the west of Balgreggie ADN, though Gordon MS Fife, his source, shows Craigsyde in its proper position. Blaeu seems to have misread his manuscript.
