Sc golf + Sc drum

‘Ridge or long hill where golf was played’. This is the only Fife place-name I have come across which contains the name of the famous Fife sport, banned by act of Parliament in 1457 along with football so as not to interfere with archery practice.[116]

The name has survived in the Dunfermline street-name Golfdrum Street, which supplies the above NGR. It was part of the lands of Pittencreiff DFL.
