Sc golf + Sc drum
‘Ridge or long hill where golf was played’. This is the only Fife place-name I have come across which contains the name of the famous Fife sport, banned by act of Parliament in 1457 along with football so as not to interfere with archery practice.
The name has survived in the Dunfermline street-name Golfdrum Street, which supplies the above NGR. It was part of the lands of Pittencreiff DFL.
