It lies to the west of the burgh of Strathmiglo, but is so-named to distinguish it from the other early mill on the lands of Strathmiglo, East Mill (q.v.).
In the earlier twentieth century it formed part of the Pitlour estate, farmed as a separate unit (a dairy farm, ca. 66 acres) by Mrs Baxter’s parents till c.1953. Now farmed by Mr R. Mitchell of Drumdreel.
