‘Kincraigie Hill’. The OS 6 inch 1st edn form is an error, appearing also in the OS Name Book (50, 35), which states that it is on the farm of Kincraig (sic), which elsewhere it correctly records as Kincraigie.
It was known locally as Spyancope,[403] presumably named after the Boer War Battle of Spion Kop fought in January 1900, at which the British were defeated.
