G creag + ? fòd or ? G fada

‘Rock or crag of (or beside) peats or divots’? The second element may be G fòid or fòd (OG fót) ‘peat, sod, divot’, found also in Foodie DAE, which has given rise to Craigfoodie DAE, above, and in Fod DFL (PNF 1); or G fada (OG fota, fata) ‘long’. The same name appears in a boundary description of Dunduff DFL as Cragfode (1231 Dunf. Reg. no. 196).

The above NGR is suggested on the assumption that Craigfodd is now known as Freeland SLO, q.v. below. This identification is made by Campbell 1899, 156.
