Sc prior + en Kedlock
That part of the lands of Kedlock belonging to a priory, in this case the Priory of St Andrews. It presumably represented the carucate of land in Kedlock which had been granted originally to the hospital of St Leonards in the reign of Malcolm IV by Simon son of Michael (of Kinnear) (see RRS i no. 138).
The ‘*Prior-Kedlock alias *Friarflat and *Fernyfaulds’ of 1623 (RMS viii no. 469) is best seen as an error for ‘*Prior-Kedlock and *Friarflat alias *Fernyfaulds’, and this is in fact what we find in 1643 (RMS ix no. 1459).
