Ardlogie House 1900 x 1949 OS 6 inch 2nd revision
This is a new coining, using G àird ‘height’ or àrd ‘high’, reflecting its relatively high position. It is situated on the western slope of a hill, un-named on OS Pathf., which rises to 148 m, its summit lying just on the LEU side of the parish boundary. This hill may once have been called Logie Hill, since the settlement at or very near the site of Ardlogie House is called Luggiehill (1775 Ainslie/Fife) and Logiehill (1827 Ainslie/East Fife). The house now called Ardlogie is called simply ‘Manse (Free Church)’ on OS 6 inch (1855).
