SSE fir + SSE park
Sc and SSE fir formerly referred to what is today generally called ‘Scots pine’ (also ‘Scots fir’). The name applies to a plantation of trees at the south end of Tentsmuir Forest. In defiance of the name it is shown on modern maps (such as OS Explorer) as consisting of broad-leaf trees. It is marked but not named on OS 6 inch 1st edn (1855).
