Sc foul + Sc causey

‘Foul or filthy causeway’. The Moonzie Burn cut is very deep here, and the road has been built up c.3–4 metres: no doubt the foundations of the modern road are the foul causeway of the name. It lies on the road from Cupar to Rathillet KLM, referred to as the Cartgait (see Cart Haugh CUP, above).

/fəul ˈkɔ:zwe/, sometimes locally /ful ˈkɔ:zwe/.[149]
