‘Open, untilled grasslands’. The building so named on OS map in 1855 is shown but not named on OS Pathf. OS Name Book describes it as: ‘A row of two small dwelling houses on the farm of Newton. They are one story high in good repair and occupied as Hinds [farm-workers] dwellings on the farm’ (51, 44).
