For a discussion Gairlay, see PNF 5, Elements Glossary, under garly. As this burn is associated with the lands of Pitmenzies, it is probably the name for the water-course which runs from the body of water at the south-east foot of Clamieduff Hill (q.v.) eastwards past Newhill and The Clink to form the southern march of the lands of Pitmenzies before entering the Glassart Burn (formerly the Beggars Burn) at NO224138.
