‘Pittullie’s or Pitbullie’s hollow or low pass’. The specific is probably a personal name rather than an existing place-name. *Pittullie is a form of Pattullo, a local Fife surname name deriving from Pittillock FAL (or Pitillock AGK), which itself contains G pett + G tulach ‘mound, knowe’. However, the fact that three different sources give Pitb- rather than Pitt- suggests that the former, otherwise unattested as a place- or personal name, is the better reading.
