Mounsy Burne 1654 Blaeu (Gordon) Fife
en Moonzie or ? + Sc burn
Moonzie (formerly *Auchtermoonzie) is the name of the parish in which this burn rises. It is not entirely clear whether the burn takes its name from the parish, or whether the parish takes its name from the burn, although the latter is more likely. See Moonzie MNZ, below, for discussion of this question and the possible origins of the name.
After rising in the boggy heart of Moonzie, it flows past six parishes, often along their boundaries, before entering the Motray Water, which then enters the River Eden.
