St Ninians 1984 OS Pathf. 384
It seems to have been the fanciful name of a coal-mine c.500 m north-west of Lassodie Mains. While ‘Coal Pits’ are shown here on various early editions of OS maps, the name itself appears only on post-war editions. On OS Pathf. 384 the name seems to refer to a house or cottage. The whole area has been destroyed by a vast open-cast coal-mineknown by the operators, Scottish Resources Group, as the St Ninians Surface Mine.
