‘(Top or upper) end of path or steep road’. It is shown by Ainslie/Fife close to the site of OS Pathf. Coalfarm Cottages, while OS 1:10,000 (2006) shows the same settlement as Pathead (sic) Cottages, with Pathhead (sic) Nursery 200 m to the south-east. The path in question may be the one going from the cottages to the sea-shore. Immediately south of Pathead Cottages on the 2006 map lies Shepherd’s Well.
