OS Name Book describes it thus: ‘a small haven or harbour at the east side of Law’s Castle, where fishing boats put into at intervals when a wind is blowing from the North West, though in a storm no boat would be safe in it’ (64, 38). Law’s Castle is the name of ‘a large rock at low water mark Eastward of Pitmilly Burn Mouth and well known by the neighbouring Fishermen’ (ibid. 64, 37).
