? + Sc wall

‘Wells amongst tree-trunks or poles’? This assumes that the first element is Sc caber (a loan-word from G cabar) ‘tree trunk, pole cut from a tree, rafter in building’. The first element may also be a personal name, although there is nothing appropriate in Black 1946. Note that there is a field called Caberton in CER (NO375114) shown on a map of Kingarroch (Kingarrock) apparently made in the early twentieth century.[168]

The NGR given is inferred from Roy’s Cabots Walls, which appears to be at or near OS Pathf. Northtown of Falfield.
