? + Sc wall
‘Wells amongst tree-trunks or poles’? This assumes that the first element is Sc caber (a loan-word from G cabar) ‘tree trunk, pole cut from a tree, rafter in building’. The first element may also be a personal name, although there is nothing appropriate in Black 1946. Note that there is a field called Caberton in CER (NO375114) shown on a map of Kingarroch (Kingarrock) apparently made in the early twentieth century.
The NGR given is inferred from Roy’s Cabots Walls, which appears to be at or near OS Pathf. Northtown of Falfield.
