? Sc tushilago
Tushilago, which appears variously as tushalagy, tushylucky, thisalaga, etc., also as dishilago, dishielogie etc., all derive from the Latin tussilago ‘coltsfoot’, the dried leaves of which were ‘eagerly utilised as a substitute for tobacco’ (SND, under dishilago and tushilago).
‘Tushielaw Cottage stood on the site of the present Miners’ Welfare Institute, and although in Crosshill, the lands on which it stood were further defined as Kirk Lands’ (Henderson 1990 under Tushielaw).
