Elderbank 1855 OS 6 inch 1st edn
pn Elder + SSE bank
‘Elder’s bank or slope’. The OS Name Book almost accidentally gives away the origin of this name, describing Elderbank as ‘A small row of houses at the west end of the village of Denhead chiefly occupied by labourers and property of Thomas Elder MacRitchie Esquire’ (62, 3).
