Cuttlehill # SCO S NO383012 1 10m

Cuttlehill 1855 OS 6 inch 1st edn [beside ‘brick and tile works’]

? Sc couthal + Sc hill

‘Hill of a local, open-air court’? But given the fact that this name appears so late in the record, it is quite possible that it has been transferred, perhaps from one or other of the places called Cuttlehill ABO (see PNF 1). It is not mentioned in Barrow’s list of places containing the element couthal in Scotland (1981, 1983a).

Now in the midst of housing in Leven, the name has not survived.
