This is clearly a late name, coined probably to replace the less than flattering Rottonmyre 1828 SGF, that is ‘rat-infested mire or bog’. It lay about 100 m south of the farm-steading of Balbaird. A building is shown but not named on OS 6 inch (1855). There is no settlement marked here on OS Pathf., just the name, which has disappeared from OS Explorer (2001) and OS 1:10,000 (2006).
