Parley Brae 1856 OS 6 inch 1st edn

Sc parlie + Sc brae

‘A brae or steep road where parleys or meetings take or have taken place’; see Elements Glossary under Sc parlie. It is found also in the better documented Parley Hill, a street-name in Culross (q.v.).

OS Name Book 92, 33 describes it as: ‘An elevation in the public road from Lady’s Square[245] to Markinch near Sythrum and immediately north of a wooden bridge over the River Leven’ (1854).

The NGR is of approximately the mid-point of the brae.
