As with Carseggie MAI, this name appears too late in the record to allow any satisfactory etymology. It is one of the loans or cattle-tracks giving access to what were presumably grazing lands for Balgonie around Byresloan MAI. Roy shows the small settlement of Cordowny at around the north end of the loan, near the Leven (c.NO317001).
