The NGR given is for the small area of woodland at the point where OS Pathf. marks Long Hill, on a relatively steep ridge which slopes down towards the River Leven. It is described by OS Name Book as ‘a long narrow ridge on which stone Battle-axes and Flint arrow heads were found at different times’ (91, 4). At the west end of Long Hill (where the woodland now is) was a burial mound called Gallant Knowe, discussed under Strathenry LSL, below.
