‘Farm or village at the kirk of Largo’. On OS Pathf. this settlement is called Kirkton of Largo or Upper Largo. However, Ainslie/Fife (1775) shows Upper Largo and Kirktown as two quite separate entities, Upper Largo sited to the north-west of Kirktown. SGF (1828) simply calls the upper settlement Largo, applying no name to modern Lower Largo. OS 6 inch 1st edn names the settlement only Kirkton of Largo, omitting the name Upper Largo entirely.
