Kingskettle, i.e. the part of the lands of Kettle which were part of royal demesne, developed out of the king’s ferme (firma) of Kettle (Cattell) 1160 × 1162 RRS i no. 190. The name now attaches to the largest village in the parish, referred to locally simply as Kettle.[128]
