SSE honey + SSE hall

A remote location in the hills east of Rameldry, on OS Pathf. it is marked as ‘Honeyhall (ruin)’. If it is indeed as transparent a name as it seems, then it probably refers to the presence of bee-hives, with hall ‘high-status dwelling, big house’ being used ironically, as is so often the case. OS Name Book OS Name Book (16, 15) states that it is owned by Captain Rigg of Tarvit.
