? Sc shire + ? + Sc brae

The first element seems to contain Sc shire, and it is probably significant that the boundary between Easter and Wester Lochoreshire (which is also the boundary between ADN and BGY) runs down the western end of this brae (the southern slope of Hare Law).

OS Name Book 10, 18 describes it thus: ‘Part of a ridge or hill on the farm of Pitcairn which has no name. This part is chiefly covered with wood’. As mentioned above, it is in fact the south side of Hare Law, named as such on the OS first edition, which makes the Name Book statement rather puzzling.
