Sc channel + Sc hall

It stands at the point where a channel or mill-lade was drawn from the Pittillock Burn, whence it ran north-west past Millwaters FAL, after which it turned sharply to north-east and ran down to Freuchie Mill.

OS Name Book (15, 10) says that there was a small water-powered mill here, Channelhall Mill, for flax-dressing.
