This was a small settlement on the north side of the Freuchie Burn. The eponymous bridge was a result of the 1797 Turnpike Act, which saw the development of a new road (now the A92) across the Howe of Fife which by-passed Freuchie and crossed the Eden at Drumtenant CLS (Silver 1987, 71).
The name survives today in the Bridgend Filling Station, on the site of the old settlement of Bridgend.
