‘Roundel, a circular form’. The name refers to a feature which on 1856 OS 6 inch 1st edn appears as a sub-circular plantation of trees. That place is still marked on OS Pathf. as a circular feature, though without trees. OS Explorer (2001) marks Roundall once again as planted with trees, as part of a larger plantation. The sub-circular area is also marked on SGF (1828), though not named.
