Back Burn 1888 x 1914 OS 6 inch 1st revision [upstream from Markinch Burn]
Sc back + Sc burn
‘Burn at the back’; it may have been named in relation to Balgonie MAI and other lands along the Leven. The name applies to a stretch of what is otherwise known as the Markinch Burn, q.v. below. It forms the boundary between KWY and MAI, upstream from OS Pathf. Markinch Burn, but downstream from Markinch itself. It is not to be confused with Back Burn KWY/SCO, q.v.
