Aberlyn 1989 OS 1:25000 [OS Pathf. 394]
A modern name which appears on OS 1 inch maps after 1927, but properly constructed as if it were Pictish *aber + en Lyne, ‘the mouth of the Lyne Burn’. It has not caught on, apparently, and is omitted from OS Explorer (2001). This site has attracted other interesting names: Blaeu (Pont) West Fife (1654) has the river mouth here called Whale heaven (‘whale haven’).
