Sc black + Sc loch

The name survives attached to a small body of water south-west of Dunduff DFL, which drains south-west into the Carnock Burn and ultimately into the Bluther Burn. As depicted on the Blaeu maps, as well as the Gordon MS map, it was once more extensive.[100] It appears on Ainslie/Fife (1775) as Hillhedloch (on SGF (1828) as Hillhead L<och>), taking its name from the farm of Hillhead to the south-east.

There is another Black Loch in the very north of the parish, through which runs the boundary between DFL and Cleish parish (FIF and KNR) (Black Loch 1828 SGF) west of Loch Glow; to the west of Black Loch is Black Hill DFL, just within the boundary (NT069962) (both OS Pathf. names).
