Sc and SSE links (always plural) usually refer to undulating coastal grasslands. It may have been applied to this inland location because of the very sandy nature of the soil here (the same that has given rise to the name St Fort, earlier Sandford, for more on which see s.n. and Naughton BMO, above). In fact, part of East Links Wood has now eroded by sand extraction.
