Sc loch + Sc heid

Though it is c.1 km from the north-west edge of the former Rossie Loch, the specific element presumably refers to that loch. The element heid can mean ‘top, upper end, highest part of a river, valley, parish etc.’ (CSD) and Lochieheads lies some 60 m higher than former Rossie Loch and between two of the burns which filled it.
