According to Priory Acres Plan, it is the name of the field whose centre lies on NGR NO490167, and part of it is referred to thus: ‘A part of Croftangry not subject to any teind, from its at one time having formed the Bishops or Archdeacons Road’. In Sasines no. 11448 it is described as being part of Rathelpie at the south-west end of the village of Argyle beside St Andrews.
