Sc cutty + Sc skelly

‘Short rock or reef’? The OS 6 inch (1855) map names other rocks in the sea by Cuttyskelly, including East Wolf, West Wolf and, further south, the Little Ship, Bruce’s Skelly and Craigmoor, this last apparently from G creag m(h)òr ‘big rock’.

Cutty and cutsie are local dialect words for the kittiwake, one of the commonest local seagulls, and there is often a line of gulls or waders to be seen on these prominent rocks’ (Harry Watson HDW).
