‘Broad slope’. A common place-name element in east Scotland, occurring in all parts of Fife. See Watson 1926, 284, 518 (note) and PNF 5 Elements Glossary.

The name originally applied to a large area of upland within the Boar’s Raik SSL, it seems to have been divided into two parts in the late 1150s, which parts became known as Lambieletham and Priorletham, q.v. for more details.
