‘Field of the common grazing’? See also Lathones CMN. According to Ainslie/East Fife, Wester Lathones, part of Auchinchochin, is at NO468089. Ainslie/East Fife’s Easter Lathones, not part of Auchinchochin, is the hamlet now known simply as Lathones. The NGR given above describes an area a few hundred meters to the west of OS Pathf. Lathones (formerly Easter Lathones) which must approximate to the Middle, Wester and Norther Lathons which the Sasines entry of 1784 shows to have been Auchinchochin. OS 6 inch 1st edn shows Lathones as the whole area of the southernmost end of CMN, and the March of Lathones (NO474093) presumably indicates its northern limit, and hence the boundary of Norther Lathons.
