‘Nine wells’. Called Edins Springs by Blaeu (Gordon) Fife (1654), it was clearly at that time regarded as the source of the Eden, the river to the west being known as the Miglo (for which see PNF 4, s.n.). These springs are not on Blaeu (Pont) East Fife, Ainslie/Fife; or SGF.
Nine Wells are marked as a Water Feature on OS Pathf. Note that there also is The Nine Wells marked north of the Green Hill, the source of the Maspy Burn on Falkland Plan/1757. For other occurrences of this name in Fife, see Nine Wells NBH and Ninewells FGN (PNF 4).
